The mission of the Taos C.A.R.E.S. Health Council is to unite community efforts and coordinate resources that will enhance the health and well being of area residents.

 

 

What We Do

Taos C.A.R.E.S. is a comprehensive county-wide health council in Taos County that assesses community needs and strengths, particularly focusing on five community identified priorities:

    *     Increase Access to Health Services
    *     Reduce Substance Abuse
    *     Increase Family Resiliency
    *     Increase Healthy Eating and Physical Activity
    *     Increase Learning and Economic Development Capacity
  

 

 

Benefits of Membership

The Taos C.A.R.E.S. Health Council:


  • Provides regular networking opportunities and discussions of relevant topics that affect the health of the community.

  • Facilitates collaboration and coordinates countywide health improvement efforts through action teams and other partnerships.

  • Conducts and shares results of needs assessments.

  • Produces and maintains a Taos County Health Profile as well as a Community Health Improvement Plan, to provide an in-depth look at health and wellness efforts in our community.  The Health Profile and Plan compile professionally analyzed health-related statistics and other data into one accessible format.

  • Updates members about grant opportunities, trainings, seminars, data sources, websites, and health reports issued by the New Mexico Department of Health.

Meeings are open and are held the second Wednesday of every month at the Kit Carson Boardroom in Taos from 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
